Control of Communicable Disease

(any disease that you can give to, or get from another person):

  • Clinics for childhood and adult immunization (shots)
  • Disease prevention and management of outbreaks
  • Case follow-up for disease (whooping cough, sexually-transmitted diseases, food poisoning)

Pregnancy, infancy, and early childhood

  • Education and support for pregnant women and families (pre-natal classes, home visits, telephone calls)
  • Visits to new mothers and newborns
  • Breastfeeding support, parenting advise, and nutrition education
  • Vision screening and follow-up (pre-school ages)

School-aged Children and youth

  • Immunization shots
  • Fluoride mouthrinse program and flossing instruction
  • Education and support to youth, teachers and parents on hand washing, smoking, active living, and sexuality
