Cabot Trail Facade Project:

Cabot Trail Facade Program Phase 2 Opportunity

The Cabot Trail Façade & Streetscape Management Committee is pleased to inform qualifying businesses that the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) has committed $675,000 for a Cabot Trail Facade Program Phase 2 over a two year period starting November 8th, 2016 and ending October 31, 2018.

The Cabot Trail Façade Program is a 50/50 cost sharing program that will be administered by the Municipality of Victoria County, in partnership with the Municipality of Inverness County and the Cabot Trail Façade & Streetscape Management Committee. This committee will review and approve applications submitted.

Why study opportunities to use the Strathlorne Forest Nursery?

The Department of Natural Resources, in partnership with Perennia Food and Agriculture, the Department of Agriculture, Municipality of the County of Inverness, and The Cape Breton Partnership, has hired Group ATN Consulting Inc. (GATN) and Morton Horticultural Associates (MHA) to examine opportunities to increase use of the Strathlorne Forest Nursery site in support of community and regional economic development.

Currently, the facility has excess production capacity and the research team wants to know your views on the opportunities to effectively leverage this capacity.

As part of the research, GATN and MHA are seeking community input in a process that included a well-attended public meeting (held on June 21st) and an online survey.

The survey is offered to anyone who could not attend the public meeting, as well as for those who did attend but would like another opportunity to contribute their thoughts.

Inverness County Housing Strategy

Dear fellow Inverness County residents,

The Municipality is currently developing a strategic plan for housing across Inverness County. This plan will identify what kinds of housing are most urgently needed and where; recommend measures the municipality can take to help meet those needs; and offer guidelines for using housing to reach broader goals, such as spurring economic growth or attracting and retaining young families.

Beyond statistics and demographics, the most important source of information about the housing challenges and opportunities here in this county is you. Please complete our On-line General Housing Issues Survey. The the more residents that complete the survey, the better. Your knowledge and viewpoint are tremendously valuable, helping to ensure the municipality is doing everything possible to meet the housing needs of your community.

Margaree Airport Expansion

In December 2014, Inverness Municipality submitted an application to the Build Canada Fund to expand and upgrade the existing Municipal Airport in Margaree to create the 'Cape Breton Island Airport' (CBIA).
